Research Description
After finishing my Masters in Biotechnology from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso, I started working at University of Minnesota. For the past two years, my work on canine hemangiosarcoma and human angiosarcoma has focused on two different areas. For one project, I am studying how lysosomal trapping of chemotherapy drugs contributes to drug resistance in these tumors. Our goal is to design strategies to prevent cancer cells from using this strategy to circumvent chemotherapies. I am also working on a project to determine the role of beta adrenergic signaling in angiosarcoma and hemangiosarcoma tumor progression and drug resistance. In this project, I am using both genetic and pharmacological approaches to target drug resistant pathways and identify drug resistant cell populations.
